THINK Snack Box

THINK360 created the Snack Box - a custom-branded package - for Scottsdale, Ariz.-based United Blood Services (UBS) to consolidate and improve the effectiveness of its canteen service -- a service providing food and beverages to individuals after they donate blood. UBS is a national non-profit organization that supplies blood to more than 500 hospitals through a network of community blood centers. 

UBS has used the Snack Box for 3 years to move from provisioning supplies for its canteen service from 30 vendors to one primary vendor, THINK360, and from sourcing its canteen service with 50 items to one self-contained item -- or the Snack Box. 

The THINK360 Snack Box allows UBS to streamline its canteen service and related outreach messaging at blood-donor centers throughout the United States.  Each Snack Box and contents display UBS-branded messages and information on giving blood that has translated into about 271,212 hours of educational outreach as donors read the contents like cereal boxes at a breakfast table. The educational messaging is driving both donor frequency and retention. 

"After the Snack Box was rolled out to our blood centers, we saw a decrease in costs related to our canteen operations," said Pat McEvoy, executive vice-president of United Blood Services. "And we've gained a real tool to connect with our donors and deepen our relationship with the people who drive our day-to-day business and ensure we get blood to those who need it." 

In the past three years, UBS has distributed more than 75,000 THINK360 Snack Boxes, providing over 1.8 million snack servings to blood donors. A survey of UBS donors indicates that 76 percent of them like the Snack Box and contents and nearly half of those UBS surveyed said that reading the boxes moves them to donate more often.
